Attymass Salmon Fishery

Attymass Angling Club waters are situated 2.5 miles from Ballina on the east bank of the River Moy. There is easy access to all the pools with ample car parking facilities for the visiting angler. The fishery consists of approximately 2.5 miles of single bank fishing and is divided up into three distinct sections including three famous Moy pools: Padden’s Pool, the Wood Pool and Cunningham’s Pool.

The Pools

Cunningham’s Pool is situated north of the Scott-Knox-Gore Wall Pool Fishery and is easily accessible from the nearby car park. Although significant numbers of fish are taken from here in early to mid-season, the pool really fishes well from August onwards and is best-known for its September catches.

Padden’s Pool is a lengthy stretch consisting of over 900 yards of water and is famed for its spring fish. There is a very deep holding pool (18 ft deep) just downstream from where the Bunnafinglas River flows into the Moy and this is always a likely spot to catch a salmon. However, during the summer months most of Padden’s pool is between 4-6 ft deep and the most successful methods are spinning, worming and fly fished with a bubble.

The Wood Pool is located further upstream and shares the opposite bank with the Knockmore Salmon Anglers Fishery. This is a pool that fishes consistently well throughout the season and is over 1,200 yards in length. It is situated in a most scenic location which enjoys lots of woodland shelter.
